Science Blunders

My students need tables to work on the hands-on Science projects that will cover all standards needed in 5th grade. These tables would ensure a sturdy workspace and promote collaboration.

My Students

My Students

Our school is a small, rural Pre-K-5th school in northeast Limestone County, Alabama.

Total enrollment is just over 400 children with 67% of students receiving free and/or reduced meals making us a Title I school. This year I will have 3 classes of 24-25 each rotating through my Science and Social Studies class.

My students are very digitally oriented but our Science class is very hands-on through the use of AMSTI (Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative) kits. We use a variety of hands-on activities and resources to explore and review concepts that are taught during whole group and small group instruction. I make efforts to include and incorporate Coding and STEM activities into our classroom instruction and the students respond to these to these types of activities very well.

My Project

My students will currently be working at individual desks that are different heights and uneven. I can envision lots of spills that would take away the already small amount of time we will have to work. These tables would give a place to create terrariums and aquariums without the worry of the unstable area causing a mishap or blunder! Our second kit will explore the world of mixtures and solutions and that will be a mess with desks!

With these amazing tables my students will be able to collaborate and work better in teams!!

The AMSTI kits are a wonderful way to activate a child's love and interest in the world of Science and Technology. It would be a great benefit and help having these tables to facilitate and promote student learning.
