My Project
My students come from an amazing mixture of cultures and backgrounds. The vast majority of my students come from low income homes and are on free or reduced lunch programs. I teach 3rd grade students that are quickly growing and developing personalities. They are full of curiosity and excitement about learning.
"I am an important person in this world, today is the most important day in my life, my mistakes are my best teachers, so I will be fearless." In my class, I try to create a welcoming and loving environment that empowers my students to explore science.
One of the first things that we study in third grade is the water cycle and climate. Terrariums are a great way of demonstrating how the water cycle works. I am requesting items such as pencils, folders with pockets, kleenex, crayons, and other necessary supplies. I have also requested two 18 port surge protectors. My students have 1:1 devices in the classroom, but we struggle to have enough power outlets to charge the devices. I have also requested a batch of stylus that students will be able to use on their tablets as it becomes hard for students to write legibly on screen. Privacy screens for desks give students and teachers assurance that their test answers stays their secure.
A part of empowering students is to ensure that they have the tools necessary to succeed in the classroom. The families of my students often struggle to provide the basic supplies needed, especially when there are multiple children in the household.
