This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students embody what it means to be hungry for knowledge. They are the most insightful, curious, and capable group of first graders I could imagine.
Each and every one of my students comes from a unique family background, including various cultures and languages, bringing with him or her an individually energetic attitude about learning.
The school in which they attend has a network of supportive teachers and administrators, but lacks some of the resources that schools in more affluent communities have the privilege of interacting with.
My Project
My students need to be discovering the world around them, and learning to write about their research. The bins will help organize the various science texts I have requested. These texts are on a level my students can access. These different levels vary to reach each of my students as individuals, no matter what reading level they are currently working on. The notebooks I have requested will give my students a space to record their learning while developing their writing skills.
The LeapPads and books on CD I have requested will not only benefit my current class, but future students as well. In a first grade classroom, students engage with materials that will become staples in their education moving forward.
My students need to become immersed in the evolving technology of our world during their time at school.
Using these materials to study science through reading and writing will expose students to first-grade level content in an advanced way.
