My Students

My students come from a rural background many from farm communities. The students are excited to learn and be curious about the world when instruction is diverse and innovative. These students are becoming young adults. The fifth grade is a transitional period where students become more independent for success in middle school as the next level of education.

As my students change physically and mentally, they find the confidence to express themselves as they develop an understanding of the world around them.

Since resources are more limited in the small town environment rather than a large city, I want to bring experiences to the students through technology that would expose these great minds to more knowledge.

My Project

The iPad will give students the opportunity to engage in many types of learning activities. For example, students will be able to create movies demonstrating new knowledge gained on many different topics. Students will experience augmented reality with the help of these charts, which will help them make real life connections that stick when learning about the periodic table.

The iPad will be used to build partnerships around the world with other students as they communicate through Skype.

This will give students the abilities to learn from others that would not otherwise be possible. Our school wide goal for this year is to build relationships and involve the community.
