This is my fifth year teaching fourth grade. My students are creative, hard-working, and willing to learn. They surprise me every day with their thought-provoking questions and curiosity. They all come from different backgrounds and skill levels.
My students love learning!
They work hard which means I have to work harder to give them experiences that will challenge and engage them. I am always looking for new ways to help them dig deeper into the content and think outside of the box.
My Project
Last year, our district implemented the new Utah science standards. They changed a lot. As a 4th grade teacher, I'm now trying to teach new standards and am finding that there are some supplies I need to effectively teach the standards and to give more students an opportunity to engage with the materials. This problem has been magnified as we have tried to eliminate students sharing supplies when possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the flexible seating options I am asking for will help my students be more successful academically and emotionally amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In schools, we are seeing more and more students who need extra help managing strong emotions like anxiety and depression. It is proven that where you sit and how you sit can affect your mood and workflow. The wobble chair, floor rockers, and lap desks will give my students more flexibilty on where they sit so they can work more productively.
