Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Living in one of the most challenging neighborhoods in America, my students manage to come to school every day with smiles on their faces and an eagerness to learn! These wonderful high school students strive to compete in a technologically advanced world. They exhibit a desire to learn science through analytical thinking and hands-on learning.

Each student expresses a desire to succeed in life.

They wish to become doctors, engineers and business owners. However they lack resources, primarily technology, to make those dreams become reality.

My Project

Even though my school has historically been low-performing, students that enter my class are treated with respect, encouragement and high expectations. They quickly recognize that my goal is for them to succeed today... and in the future! The primary subjects that I teach are AP Physics, Physics and Robotics. Each of these subjects requires a strong work ethic, good attendance and proper resources - including technology.

I've spent a lot of my own money in the past purchasing lab equipment to provide my students with authentic science experiments.

I have also been fortunate enough to have several Donors Choose projects funded through donations of wonderful people such as yourself. However, technology advances and the resources supplied by the school are just not enough to allow my students to achieve the success they strive towards.

There is a strong need for a high quality laptop in my classroom to run the software necessary for several of our Physics and Robotics experiments and designs. The Macbook Pro laptop that I have selected will provide the technology necessary for my students to perform these vital experiments and create critical designs. With this upgrade in technology my students will have a far greater opportunity to realize their dreams of earning a top-quality education which will lead them to future success!
