Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is to purchase entry level science supplies for students with disabilities who are also new to this country and learning English.

Recent immigrants, especially those also in special education, often struggle in school and fall far behind their peers even as we as teachers work to overcome the twin challenges of immigration and disability.

In addition to the science supplies, we are hoping to buy some basic classroom supplies that our campus will not purchase for us - metallic markers so that the students can write on their black cover composition books, and printer ink so that we can print in color.

Finally, experiential outdoor learning is so important for students, especially those learning English, those seeking a safe and calming environment, and those with disabilities. For this reason, we keep an outdoor learning space on our campus and we are asking for shade cloth and food for our chickens.
