I teach an amazing group of first-grade students.
The twenty-two boys and girls who make up my first-grade class are wonderful boys and girls who love learning. They are all at varying levels of learning, but working hard every day to grow as readers, writers, and young mathematicians and scientists.
There are students with special needs and students who are working hard just to learn the English language. There are students who find school a struggle and students who are considered gifted in reading and math and need a challenge. The students in my class are also very diverse in their economic backgrounds, with many of them struggling to simply get basic needs.
My Project
Creating a love of learning is key for creating lifelong readers. It's especially important in first grade to give students positive and fun experiences with learning. My students love hands-on math and science activities. They need access to the apps and activities available on the requested iPads with protective cases, especially those that will introduce them to the world of Science and Math at an early age. Using the apps on the iPad will give my students access to thousands of opportunities to experience STEM daily. Access to a better variety of STEM materials will give my students the ability to continue to grow as learners.
By creating a love of math and science at an early age, who knows how far my students can go?
I may have a future NASA astronaut, architect, engineer, or doctor in my class right now.
Using the iPads and available apps, I will be able to create more individualized instruction for my students based on academic need and interest. The apps that will be available to my students will increase their knowledge, their learning, and further their love of math and science.
