We have over 50% of our students who are special needs or have behavior issues. All of our students come from low income families in rural areas. It is our goal to provide a safe learning environment for the children we serve. We also strive to meet their social and emotional needs as well as basic needs in order to give them the resources and tools to transition to the public school system.
Play is the highest form of research.
My Project
Our center is in Head Start, which doesn't have the funding to supply the items needed in the classroom to increase knowledge. The microscope and animal photo cards will assist children in being engaged in what they are learning and the scientific process. The building and STEM sets will expand their science and math skills. The math manipulatives will encourage children to increase their math knowledge. We also have children with sensory issues who will benefit from the sensory items selected. The safari animal figures and matching cards will help with making connections. The magnetic blocks will assist the children with their engineering skills and the transition book will assist me as a teacher in making smoother transitions to new activities.
Having the items selected will allow the children in our classroom to increase and expand upon their knowledge
