Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our preschoolers are busy learning through play every day. We don't have a lot of materials and our students all come from low income families, but we make the most of what we have!

Our class needs more materials to expand our learning about science and the natural world.

Our students don't have close access to many parks, but we have an on-site garden that has gotten them very excited to learn about trees, bugs, plants, and the environment. We also have sensory bins, but we have run out of materials to fill them with. Beans and rainbow rice will help us continue to learn about digging and pouring. Science curriculum kits will expand our science center hands-on learning. Dry erase markers will be used to make scientific observations, and students will practice their own writing with colorful mini pencils. Our school's laminator machine has been broken for years - a new laminator machine will allow me to preserve student artworks and learning materials I create.

Science learning is so important for the young students of color enrolled in our public preschool. Help me inspire the next generation of scientists!
