Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With a long and rich history, our inner city school is diverse, with students contributing the perspectives and traditions of a variety of cultures. Many of our students are bilingual, or are Multilingual Learners. Just imagine, 98% of our amazing students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, and many face difficult life challenges at a very young age. They also spend a lot of time in their own neighborhoods without often seeing enough of the wide world.
Intelligent, funny, friendly, my students are full of life, inquisitive, enthusiastic, with plenty of grit.
They can also be pointedly insightful. I'm often struck by their perseverance, loyalty and compassion. I am so proud to be their teacher, and want to bring them learning that will drive their pursuit of knowledge and experiences that will fill them with a love of life and an interest in science.
My Project
We are developing a Science and Engineering Lab in which students can apply their STEM knowledge and critical thinking skills to solving important real world problems. Students will have opportunities to collaborate while designing, constructing and operating their cool inventions, and learning valuable tech skills including computer literacy and coding.
By donating these utility shelves, you will allow us to organize the Science and Engineering Lab so that teachers and students will have easy access to just the right science technology equipment and can get straight to thinking and doing!
