Science and Art Light Up the World

Help me give my students science materials to do hands-on science experiments. The Carolina Biological Supply Company science kits, along with the oil pastels, will greatly add to our curriculum.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At my International Baccalaureate school ( PYP) my students are inquirers, thinkers, and active learners. They wonder about their environment and find challenges exciting. Students understand what a growth mindset means. Together they problem solve issues and come up with creative solutions.

I'm aware that my students' ability to focus and pay attention increases when we do hands-on activities and experiments.

We have many projects throughout the year that require working with partners or in teams. Alternative seating options, incorporating technology, and student-centered inquiry helps make balanced learners. They like to use all of their senses to learn.

My Project

In third grade, we learn about inventors like Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison. I expand the inventors' concept to include artists such as Diego Rivera. The science kits and art materials will help us investigate.

It would be fantastic to provide my students with materials that give them opportunities to explore hands-on.

Discussions and video clips are helpful, yet it doesn't compare to actually experimenting. For example, students will be able to make electromagnets and create parallel circuits. We can draw beautiful pictures with the oil pastels. The excitement of exploring will light up my students' faces, literally and figuratively.
