This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The scientific discovery process requires keen powers of observation and analytical thinking and a spark of creativity. All too often, students in science classrooms are limited by a lack of adequate art supplies that could allow their creativity to shine through visually. With basic supplies like pencils, markers, and colored pencils, students can diagram their hypotheses, illustrate their findings, and breathe life into the concepts they are studying.
The art supplies requested here - including Sharpie markers, Mr. Sketch scented markers, and packs of pre-sharpened pencils - will allow scholars to create higher-quality projects and feel less limited by their current resources, allowing for more creativity.
Rather than having to make do with dull or broken pencils and a limited palette, they can use vibrant colors to make their work pop off the page. Creating visually engaging diagrams, models, and illustrations will reinforce key scientific learning in a way bland black-and-white drawings cannot.
