Our elementary school is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. In our building, we only have first and second grades and as you can imagine, it is full of energy!
Being the only first and second grade elementary school in our county, we have a diverse population.
Our students come from all backgrounds and economic levels. I love how our school is a mix of our entire area because students get to interact and make friends with a wide range of kids.
My Project
Do you remember how school supplies look on the first day of school? Pencils are sharpened, crayons are neatly in the box, and glue sticks still have their caps. Well, that's not the case in December in a second grade classroom!
My kids need fresh supplies to start the new year!
Many students have lost crayons or broken them. Pencils have been sharpened so many times they are now too short to use. Pencils no longer have erasers. Students might not even be able to find their pencils! Glue sticks have dried out from the caps not being replaced or they have been used up entirely. Students have misplaced their scissors. Dry erase markers have dried up months ago! Students need new supplies to freshen up their supply boxes and have a successful remainder of the school year.
