My Project

Hello!

I am the Transitional Kindergarten Teacher at our Elementary School.

Our school has many amazing things happening- but there can always be more! Movement is so incredibly important and is sometimes overshadowed by standards and traditional paper pencil teaching.

Sensory paths are a way for students to interact with foundational academic skills while connecting their brain and body. Movement while learning is scientifically proved to be more beneficial than sitting stationary. Sensory paths are a great way to create a welcoming environment within your school. The funding of this project would allow for a variety of sensory paths to by placed strategically throughout school hallways. All students (K-5) would have access to these paths. These paths would not only be used by my class, but classes walking to and from recess/specials/lunch and more. Sensory paths can be an important aid in a student's sensory development and their ability to process information from the environment as well as a tool to develop executive skills. All of these things can be correlated to students finding success and having fun in school.
