Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are highly motivated learners that love to acquire new information each day. Each student arrives to my classroom ready to learn and explore. I love seeing the progress that each one of my students makes each day.

My students are the first in their homes to learn to speak English.

My students parents encourage their children to get an education, but lack the literacy skills to help their children at home. Students in my classroom encourage each other to reach academic goals and model kindness throughout our school.

My Project

My students lack the financial resources to have books at home to read. Students will take a literacy backpack home each work to work on different activities .

Each backpack will be filled with STEAM materials to encourage literacy in science and math at home that can be shared with parents.

Backpacks will include books to read, a journal for writing, art supplies for creating an art piece about what they have learned, a measuring tape for different activities, and websites that students can access to learn more about the topic in the backpack.

Each week, students will present their learning to the class and build upon an art piece that each student will have created from the backpack.
