This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been a teacher for over 25 years. I have seen the world of education change greatly throughout this journey. Last year was amazing. The kids were so excited to be back in the classroom. We made incredible gains considering the kids had to relearn so many skills like using scissors and sitting at a desk. When the year ended, I sent their pencil pouches, scissors, and whiteboards home so they could continue learning throughout the summer. Now, a new year is upon us, and new third graders are coming back to school.

My future third-graders need basic school materials like pencil pouches, scissors, and whiteboards to guide them to success this coming school year.

Each student will need their materials to help them learn and explore content in my flexible classroom. These materials are vital to our success this coming school year. My students need whiteboards to show their mathematical thinking while solving problems. They will also need pencil pouches to keep their materials separate from their classmates. These materials will make small group time and group projects run more smoothly as they will be able to move from station to station with ease. My classroom also needs a storage unit for their lap desks to make them easy to get and store. The boxes of Kleenex will help keep the classroom sanitary and a safe place to learn. Even though I have been teaching for a long time, I feel like a new teacher because I sent my supplies home with last year's kids. Would you please donate to my classroom to help the kids start the new year right?
