School Supply Kits

My Students

Since the quarantine, many families I have spoken to in my community have struggled to make ends meet with their children's home and child care facilities closed for months.

My goal is to help alleviate the stress of buying school supplies for both home and school, and to create resource binders for students to have in the classroom and at home.

My Project

With this project, I plan to create custom student binders before the start of the year so they each have mini reference posters, monthly calendars, homework help, and activities to practice skills taught in the classroom they may use at home. The website "Teachers pay Teachers" is a source for downloadable teacher-made work packets, organizational tools, subject matter practice, homework, assessments, etc. that can be purchased and will be invaluable to the success of my resource binders. Plus, it supports the efforts of other educators in the process- two for one! I will also create grab-and-go individual school resource and supply kits for students who will be learning from home.

With these basic classroom supplies and math/literacy manipulatives, my students will start the year with the essential tools needed to succeed regardless of where they are.

This past school year was my first year teaching. When the school shut down due to COVID-19 pandemic last March, I happily gave away ALL of my remaining "teacher loot" (school supplies) for my students to use at home for distance learning.Now, with the 2020-21 school year fast approaching, and the virus steadily looming, I am determined to prepare my future students for learning at home, at school, or a hybrid of both.
