Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a returning second grade teacher after 30+ years. When I retired in 2019, I gifted all of my supplies, rulers, books, charts, laminator machine, and color printer to teachers that were in need of those things. Now that I am back teaching full time, I am in need of the supplies and materials requested.

These supplies are essential for their learning!

My second graders mostly consist of English Language Learners with multiple levels of proficiency. Most of them are level one, two, and a few are level three. I’ve tried going with less cost-effective material for my students in the past using everything black and white print. I just know the students would benefit mostly from the use of the color printer. Having things in color, like anchor charts, picture cards, and special projects helps to stimulate the students' brains which makes them perform better.

The headphones are crucial for the learning and testing environment. Headphones are very important because they help students focus better and block out other distractions. It also helps create the test environment that all students need. My students will use the headphones while using the Chromebooks, and while they are learning all subjects in the classroom, and most importantly completing their standardized tests. That’s why the headphones, colored printer, classroom supplies, bulletin boards fabric /fadeless paper, borders, index cards, and treasure box supplies are extremely needed for my students to be successful.
