Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten to 3rd-grade students at an inner-city school. The school district is located in the heart of Camden in an underprivileged area. Since it is an area with high poverty rates, many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Although every day they are faced with many challenges both in and out of their homes, they come to school eager to learn. These kids face many difficulties, including taking responsibilities beyond their ages, yet when they arrive at school, they are just like any kid, filled with a passion to learn more about the world.
My Project
Our students have different ways of learning, and we need various school supplies and materials that will provide them with opportunities to express what they know. Basic supplies such as paper and other supplies are necessary to carry out innovative lessons that will engage students to become active learners.
Having the supplies needed will surely contribute to each child's success in their learning.
These materials will be used in multiple subjects, and our goal is to incorporate project-based learning that will cover all content areas. Having these materials is necessary to implement this type of instruction. With this project, we hope to make our students' learning more involved and hands-on.
