My Students

My third grade classroom is a place where every child has a safe haven! The school I teach in has a very high poverty rate and is located in a highly rural area. Many of my students live in transient homes. Our school combines 3 towns into one large school. Most of our classes have three for each grade level with an average of 20 students per class. We have a high special education population so many of the students we see are below grade level in literacy and mathematics.

My Project

Students will be using the binders and folders to create interactive subject notebooks that are theirs to keep. By having students create these binders they will be using one more modality to help them internalize their learning. During math time students are frequently asked to solve problems on an individual white board, thus creating the need for individual white board markers. They also use these white boards during testing for note taking.
