This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of energetic scholars. They are eager learners who are ready to take on the challenges of the 21st century. They are young people that simply need the resources to stimulate their creative minds.

With support from hard-working families, my students have to balance their rigorous academic work while navigating through the challenges of distance learning while living through a pandemic.

Regardless of the issues they face on a daily basis, they have goals, drive, and most importantly, they are hungry for knowledge. They possess great aspirations for change in their neighborhood, our country, and the world.

My Project

Upon the closure of our schools in March of 2020, I depleted all of my classroom supplies. At the beginning of the pandemic, I quickly found that students did not have the basic materials needed to engage actively with virtual learning. I learned that students depended heavily on the supplies that schools provided daily and they suddenly found themselves at home without these basic tools. I quickly made sure to get those supplies into the hands of students.

Having a fully stocked classroom to welcome my students back to campus will ease our return in the next few weeks.

It will provide students with a sense of "normalcy" as they set foot back in a school building for the first time in almost a year and a half.
