This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students belong to a school that is categorized as highest poverty, but we don't let that label define us. They are fun, silly, curious, and brave regular kids who love to have fun and laugh.
Our town is agriculture-based and many of my students' parents work in the fields to support their families.
This provides my students with strong work ethics as they watch their parents spend their days enduring hard labor and inclement weather. However, it also poses some struggles as my students often have less support with their studies. At times, it is difficult for their parents to take time off to help them explore the world around them.
My Project
The school year is off to a wonderful start and the 3rd-grade students at my school are thriving! We are entering our second trimester of learning and exploration in the classroom with a positive mindset amidst our chaotic world.
Unfortunately, funding is limited and school supply costs are rising, leaving my students without necessary school supplies.
We need your help to fill student desks with crayons, felt tip markers, pencils, and cardstock for projects.
All of these supplies will be shared with the entire 3rd-grade cohort at my school, approximately 120 students. This will help offset the personal expenditures that teachers are making as we continue to do what is best for the youth in our community.
