Upon entering my classroom, you might not have any idea of the incredible magic that is actually happening. My students are full of energy, excitement, and compassion. They are enthusiastic and love school and learning!
Both social and educational learning happens simultaneously at any time during the day.
Our classroom is nestled in a public education school with approximately 720 students of mixed ethnic and social-economic status. Our families are mainly middle-low to low socioeconomic status. We are a school set in an urban location and receive Title I funding. Because we are such a diverse community, our school delves deeply and immerses the children immensely into the arts. Music and art and creativity, are things we all understand regardless of the language we speak. We are an incredible school that delves its students into learning and encourages collaboration amongst all students regardless of ethnic background, economic status, or academic and learning style.
My Project
After last year's transition into online learning, the students expressed their need for in person school and therefore the need for school supplies is even more critical this upcoming year. Now, more than ever the students need individual materials in the classroom due to the risk of germs spreading throughout the classroom.
This year's transition back into the classroom is both stressful and scary for both teachers and students and this project will alleviate some of this stress.
Each school year students are given a school-supply list and are expected to crowd office supply stores to buy various items to become successful students! This project is meant to take the stress off of families and to supply students with various school supplies that will assist in their learning and make it easier for students to learn and grow. Imagine the children’s faces when they walk into their brand new classroom with their school supplies waiting for them! The materials listed within this project will assist in their learning and make all students feel included and ready to start the new school year.
