This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Teaching first grade is an absolute joy! My students worked very hard this year. Next year I want to use these materials that will be new to my class.

The mesh plastic screens would be used as my students are learning new words and learning how to write them.

The screen goes under the paper and students write on top of it. Once they have written their word, they then can remove the screen and trace the letters with their fingers which now has bumps. This is one form of multi-sensory learning.

The two different color crayons would be used for regular and irregular spellings of words. This will help the students as they identify tricky parts of words they are learning. The paper and spiral binding combs will be used to create small booklets for the students to keep their words in. The zipper pouches will be used to store their crayons and other supplies.

The Kleenex tissues and hand towels will come in handy as many students have allergies and the towels will be used to clean up any art spills.
