I teach in a low-income/high poverty school district where 57% of our student population is enrolled in the free and/or reduced lunch program. My students are faced with a multitude of challenges both in and out of the classroom, yet they are creative thinkers who are artistic and eager to learn. I am looking to provide my students with a creative and meaningful learning experience. My students deserve the best opportunities to learn.
My students need instructional materials that meet their different learning styles while addressing specific academic deficits.
We all learn in different ways and need a variety of materials to do so. Both my students and I will truly appreciate any help that is provided with funding this project.
My Project
On a daily basis, my students are actively engaged with graphic organizers and interactive reading/writing notebooks that require the basic school supplies: pencils, crayons, erasers, binder rings, markers, scissors, paper clips, staples, and glue. Sadly, these supplies are impossible to acquire from the majority of my students. If this project is fully funded, my students will be provided with the necessary school supplies to express his/her creativity in Reading Language Arts.
This project will provide each of my students with the necessary school supplies for literacy and writing.
Having these supplies ready on the first day of school means that each of my students are prepared and confident. I cannot describe the discouraged look on a student's face when he/she doesn't have a fresh, new box of crayons or a gleaming, new pair of scissors. Your contribution to this project will allow my students to step away from monotonous workbook pages and let them participate in more hands-on learning.
