Equipment for Successful Student Scientist

My students need school supplies for the beginning of the school year. Markers, crayons, glue, and scissors are all important parts of the classroom and help my students work, and do their very best each day.

My Students

As a science teacher for students in the Flint area, I am trying to build a strong community of learners based on scientific exploration, inquiry, and engineering. Our district is part of a lower socioeconomic area and, as an educator, I strive to give students the opportunity to learn and grow and be responsible, scientific-minded adults.

My students are eager to learn and explore.

However, there are many obstacles standing in our way. Their love for science is evident through their continual questioning of the world around them!

My Project

Schools supplies, like markers, crayons, and scissors are essential when it comes to running a classroom. However, when these supplies are not provided by the school the burden falls on the parents and teachers to provide them. I teach over 240 students each week and the amount of supplies needed to teach that many students can be overwhelming.

Deep meaningful learning cannot happen if students do not have the essential supplies they need.

With these supplies students will be able to engage deeply in science by using crayons, markers, and pens to draw models; scissors and glue to create engineering projects; and sticky notes to write their scientific wonderings on.

Let's make this year's science classes truly magical for these deserving students.
