This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, sixth graders who are excited about school and learning. I teach fifty students ELA and Social Studies and they enjoy learning and participating in school. My school is located in Opelousas, Louisiana in south Louisiana and many of my students are at-risk. The parents and guardians of my students are highly supportive and want the best education for their child. Having such supportive parents has made teaching a partnership with them and made teaching the students more meaningful.
My Project
I am requesting school supplies because most of my students have run out of pencils and paper. Our area is high poverty and school supplies are in high demand.
By providing my students school supplies, they will have what they need to learn and be able to focus on what I am teaching without having to panic over not having pencils and paper.
I care about my students like they are my own children and want them to be able to focus on learning from the moment they walk into my classroom. By providing school supplies, they are able to start working as soon as they walk in my door.
