School Supplies for Creativity and Organization

My Students

I teach social studies to about 100 seventh and eighth graders in a Title 1 school in rural South Carolina. All of the students in our school receive a free breakfast and lunch as we are located in an impoverished area.

The students come to school willing to learn and are bright, creative, and hard-working.

They have diverse learning styles and abilities, but all of my students like to experiment with new ways of learning. As a Title 1 school, we are not always able to provide what is needed to try a new method of teaching.

My Project

These supplies will be available to my seventh and eighth grade students as we move through the school year. Some of the supplies will be used to keep the students organized while others will be used for creative projects to sum up lessons and topics.

We will create graphic organizers, maps, political cartoons, timelines and posters in order to help the students understand the concepts we will study in social studies this year.

My goal is to try to bring history to life, and one way I try to do this is by having the students use their creativity as much as possible.
