My students need essential back-to-school supplies like binders, markers, and notebooks in order to start our year off strong.

My Students
Do you remember shopping for back to school supplies as a kid? Even for the most reluctant student, there was a fundamental excitement in the newness of your supplies. The crisp, lined paper. The untouched binders. The sharp point of a yellow pencil. For many of us, new school supplies were one of the best parts of September.
In many school districts, the back-to-school process goes like this: the school sends home a list of required supplies, and families go the store and buy those supplies.
Unfortunately, this routine that many of us take for granted is not always a practical option for the families that my school serves. I work at an incredible middle school in West Baltimore. I have the privilege of teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade self-contained Language Arts. Every day, my scholars come to school excited, energized, and ready to work. With your help, I want to make sure that basic school supplies are never a barrier between my students and high-quality education.
My Project
Your donation will help buy essential school supplies for my scholars. The binders, folders, notebooks, pens, sharpeners, and pencils will be used daily as students complete their classwork. The colored paper, markers, colored pencils, and crayons will help students to express themselves visually when studying complex academic content.
A student's access to education should never be determined by a family's income level.
Your donation will help ensure that my students can stay focused their schoolwork, rather than worrying about how their families are going to afford new supplies.
In addition to helping my scholars maintain individual supplies, your donation will also help me to make the classroom an engaging, clean, and hands-on space to learn. The dry erase boards will be used by scholars during group work and classroom engagement activities. The laminator will help me to create sturdy flashcards that will hold up to years of use. The hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, and facial tissues will help me to create a healthy and welcoming environment for my students by catering to their essential hygienic needs. Put together, all of these supplies will help me to create a classroom space where my students feel safe, provided for, and inspired to learn.
