This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year our school is making a huge effort to go green. Most of the students' work & lessons are done electronically. But final projects & reports must still be printed out for their work portfolios. My students need ink for our printer.
I teach 8th grade science in a low income, high needs neighborhood.
Many of my students are English Language Learners and/or have learning disabilities and would benefit from the kinesthetic and interactive experience that technology offers.
My students work hard and want to succeed, but circumstances beyond their control often conflict with their studies. Unfortunately, one thing all of my students have in common is that their families are struggling financially. Within our school a majority of the students qualify for the state's free or reduced meal program, and many live in shelters. Poverty limits their access to educational materials and technology in the home. Regrettably, budget cuts in the school have rendered teachers unable to keep classrooms up-to-date.
My Project
As part of the new core standards, students are required to understand the many ideas and concepts from many areas around the world. I try my best to make lessons interactive and engaging with the use of technology but some items still need to be printed out such as final reports, essays, letters home to parents, progress reports etc. I am requesting a toner cartridge for our classroom printer in order to accomplish these tasks.
Toner is a vital necessity in order for a classroom to run efficiently.
Please support my proposal and thank you in advance for seeking out www.donorschoose.org to support education.
