This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Thank you for checking out my DonorsChoose.org project! Please help me support my students' ability to communicate, improve receptive-expressive language skills, and use pragmatics in everyday life. I'm requesting materials from Super Duper that are specifically created for Speech-Language Therapy. Speech materials are always priced at a premium which causes school-based clinicians to pay exorbitant amounts for quality items to use during speech therapy sessions. Your donation will truly benefit the students in special education by allowing them to work with new and updated therapeutic games that support their goals on Individualized Education Plans.
My students are attentive, eager to learn, and have the potential to make progress toward attaining their speech and language goals given high-quality, data-driven therapy.
This is my third year working with students between the ages of three and eighteen in three schools throughout the district on the south and west sides of Chicago. The students I work with are African American, Latinx, and Arabic from low-income households and have specialized needs supported by their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). My students have various communication disorders, including receptive-expressive language deficits, articulation/speech intelligibility errors, phonological processing delays, stuttering, and social language impairments. They are hard workers who have a passion for life despite their disabilities (or as I say "different abilities"). I love helping them achieve their communication, speech, and language goals!
