OES is a Title I school. I work with a variety of students ranging from special education students with significant emotional/behavioral needs to general education students who require additional social/emotional support to best access their education. Ages of students supported also range from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Social, emotional, and behavior needs are addressed on an individual basis. This requires a large range of counseling tools in my tool box to make sure that the best skills are targeted for each student.
My Project
Students are able to access counseling services when learning remotely in addition to when they are learning in the physical school setting. I am requesting technology and items to supplement this technology during online learning. The items that are being requested will also be utilized when counseling in person to incorporate technology into sessions. The document camera, digitizer, external disk drive, Chromebook (which can be used as a second screen), and headphones can be used during virtual sessions. Non-digital counseling curriculum, like the workbook, can be displayed to students while they are are home with the docucam.
The Chromebook, docucam, and digitizer can also be used by students during in person sessions to incorporate technology with student social/emotional learning.
The chair can be used in person as an incentive (students can earn using this chair during in person sessions). The chair can also be used as a tool to teach students how to be mindful in how your body should feel when sitting up straight to show the speaker that you are listening. More effective instruction can be provided with use if the chair by the school psychologist by increasing stamina for sitting in one area for the entire duration of the day during virtual learning.
