This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for 18 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
The requested materials will promote makerspace and critical thinking. Jewelry making supplies will allow all scholars to use fine motor skills and creativity. The Scrabble board game and the Rubrik's cubes will foster problem solving. The coffee machine will help make the environment more visitor friendly and a socket switch is included to make more outlets available.
Fresh school supplies bring joy to the scholars and life to the project as we learn, tinker, explore, and forge our way to a stronger and better tomorrow.
