This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Imaginative play is a key that opens the doors of intuition and gives children the opportunity to practice what they are learning"

My students are 4 years old from Latin America, Philippines and Bangladesh backgrounds that live in a low economic neighborhood.

They are enthusiastic children that enjoy learning mostly through play. They are second language learners that attend a pre-k program in an elementary school.

My Project

I am requesting 1 kitchen sink, 1 stove, and 1 grocery set for my classroom. The kitchen set in the dramatic play area in our classroom will help the children foster social and family bonds and improve English language development. They will feel more confident and become more independent. It will spark students' imaginative play as well as increase vocabulary development. While the students are at their play areas, I will be able to make individual social emotional observations and growth of every child.

Due to the lack of resources in the children's homes, many are unable to fully have hands-on opportunities with educational toys and manipulatives.

With the use of a kitchen play set the children will grow and play together "to become self-regulated, intellectually curious, critical thinkers that will make positive contributions to our society" in future years to come.
