My Students

I am a school counselor in a middle school with appropriately 1000 students. My school is located in an urban area with students that mostly come from low socio-economic living conditions. About 95% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. As a school counselor, I work with all students in my caseload which includes 6th-8th graders.

As a counselor, I support the social/emotional and academic needs of students while providing support to parents, teachers, and staff.

I provide services to my students such as individual counseling, group counseling, academic planning, classroom guidance, and career interest preparation. I also provided staff development presentations and parent workshops.

My Project

I would like to attend the Lone Star State School Counseling Conference in November. This is an annual conference for professional school counselors to come together and learn the latest trends in the field and how to better serve our students.

This conference will allow me to attend three days worth of sessions, allowing me to enhance my school counseling knowledge, improve my school counseling program, and network with other counselors to discover best practices in the field.

My school usually covers the registration, however in order to enjoy the full conference experience, I would like to stay at the conference hotel.
