My Project

I am a brand new School Counselor. I will be first ever school counselor and because of that I am starting with nothing as far as supplies and materials go and could use all of the help I can get! Because I am new I still have a lot to learn as far as the needs of my school, but what I do know is that they need some materials and supplies to have a functioning school counseling office in the school.

My goal with this project is to get some basic materials and resources to help me conduct counseling with students as I start this school year.

I selected some toys and games to use to facilitate conversation and practice emotional regulation and social skills. The fidget and sensory toys are for practicing mindfulness and helping students develop calming strategies. I use bibliotherapy a lot especially at the elementary level, so I included some of my favorite books for teaching students about emotional regulation, friendships, appropriate behaviors, and coping skills. I also included some items to help create a comfortable and welcoming office including a lamp, rug, and two comfortable chairs.

Almost all of these items will be able to be used over and over again by myself and any future counselors. The only items that will need to eventually be replaced are the multicultural inclusive markers and colored pencils.
