Mr. Moore from Milwaukee WI is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need help registering for the U.S. National Chess Tournament as well as the costs of lodging.

Everyday we begin our practice sessions with "Our Top Stars" from the weekend tournament. I recognize students who apply chess knowledge learned during the previous week in weekend chess tournaments.
The students who participate in our Chess Team activities are students from low-income backgrounds.
Some students have learning disabilities while others excel in the classroom. Regardless of their backgrounds, each student displays resilience and confidence that impacts other students in the school. Surprisingly, the chess kids are the leaders of the school! The school itself has been classified as a failing school as indicated by the state report card. The school has a strong athletic program, but the chess team has been the pride of the school. The existence of a chess program in a school that is academically struggling is important in helping build academic excellence.
The U.S. National Chess Tournament is a major tournament in the United States for scholastic chess players. Students from schools like mine seldom get the opportunity to compete in such a tournament. Given the opportunity to compete in this year's National Tournament my students will be able to interact with other students from different regions of the U.S. In addition, my students will be able to proudly represent our school in a prestigious tournament that is held every two years. Competing in a tournament of this caliber will teach my students the value of hard-work and dedication as there will be hundreds of other students who have spent hours practicing just to compete in the National Tournament.
Donations will bring to life a goal that many of my students have written off just because of the mere cost of the endeavor.
Many of my students have not traveled outside of the city they reside in. Giving my students the opportunity to see the world outside of the city they live in will have a positive impact on each of their lives. Opportunities like this builds confidence and confidence helps builds a stronger student. Funding this project will enhance the credibility of our chess program.
