Our school is a wonderfully close knit school of kids who have grown up in 4 class grades since kindergarten- they all know and care for each other. We offer a variety of STEM, music and athletic programs for our kids- it could not possibly be a more enriching elementary experience!
Our kids feel safe, happy, and show a deep love of both the building and each other!
The staff largely live in town, and the investment in education is deep!
My Project
So many students come to school with heavy baggage- domestic situations including abuse and drug use, poverty and hunger, or even just the everyday social stresses that come with being a 10 year old! If we are going to ask them to be good students, they have to have their mind and body in the right place - just like any of us would expect. We are hoping to create a warm, inviting "Relaxation Station" where when kids need a few minutes, they can sit and speak with an adult. The CBT toolbox is an excellent resource for students who have suffered trauma- there a range of soothing therapeutic activities. The rug and the slime kits will give kids with sensory issues a calming relaxing place to decompress! The room will be painted with soft shades of pink and gray, and we will have fun interactive games for the kids to play! This is a really exciting step forward for our students- please help!
