My Students

My students love learning and enjoy coming to school. My students come from a small rural community. They are from low income homes and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Our school is an early childhood center with students in preK to first grade.

We have around 600 students. Our students come from different homes and backgrounds. The students in my classroom are very close and work together well. They do their best every day they walk into our first grade classroom. They truly enjoying learning and want to learn.

My Project

The Scholastics News Magazine will enhance students learning by introducing them to the real life news and events that are going on. It will allow students to learn the true meaning of nonfiction text and have real life pictures and words at their finger tips. They will have their very own issue to take home and keep. This is something they could use a reference and use later on.

The Scholastic magazine will help our students stay up to date with real world news going on around them.

This will be such a fun and exciting way for students to read and learn about current events. Students will be able to write about what they have learned from the Scholastic News Readers and they will also be able to watch interactive videos that we can access as a class with our subscription to the magazine. I will be able to meet state standards while teaching about current events. At around five dollars per student this resource is a must have for our first grade classroom!
