This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade cuties are such enthusiastic learners! Our Studies Curriculum needs help! We are an inner city school in Allentown, PA. We are functioning as well as we can with below poverty level status. Our children all receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our children take home a book bag full of food for the weekend.

The children want to learn but so many outside factors inhibit this.

My children come to school hungry, uncared for, and lethargic. I do everything I can to enrich their lives and let them know they have a safe place and a safe person to come to on a daily basis. I want to do everything I can, within my power, to help each student excel and become the best student they can be!

My Project

Scholastic News is an awesome way to bring current events into any classroom. The children will delight in receiving mail on a weekly basis as this current events news magazine will arrive weekly and each and every child will receive their own copy!

Our Social Studies curriculum is virtually nonexistent.

Scholastic News will give us a way to discuss current events as well as many other Social Studies topics. I plan on using this as part of our Fun Friday to enrich our classroom. The children need to know what's going on in the world and Scholastic News will provide this opportunity!
