My Students

Do you remember the thrill of receiving weekly magazines in your classroom? I do! It was something I looked forward to each week. I want my students to experience that same feeling of eager anticipation for a chance to read about interesting, kid-friendly topics.

My students are a fantastic group of unique individuals.

Some have special needs, others are gifted learners. We have military dependents, children speaking English as a second language, and others who have lived in our neighborhood their entire lives. We are very fortunate to have such a beautifully diverse classroom community.

My Project

A subscription to Scholastic News, Science Spin, and Geography Spin would allow each of my students to receive their own magazines on a regular basis for the entire year. These are magazines that provide nonfiction reading and opportunities to debate topics that are appropriate for children. These titles will help my students understand current events, scientific concepts, and the geography of their world. With the book bins requested, my students will have a place to store their magazines and related nonfiction books that will help them extend the lessons from their magazines. When they find a topic that interests them, they will be able to easily find more information on the subject.

With your help, my students will have access to interesting, engaging, and relevant nonfiction for an entire year.

They will become interested new topics, form their own opinions, and learn to love reading. Please help my students become more well-rounded individuals by supporting this project.
