This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders are curious about the incredible diversity of animal and plant lives. They love opportunities to learn and explore more about animals and plants. Scholastic News will provide them new reading material throughout the year!

They devour books about animals and clamor to write nonfiction books about them.

My students love to share their discoveries with their classmates! Science exploration is key to engaged and active learning in my classroom. Integrated learning opportunities like these are so important for my students, who are mostly English Language Learners. While they're learning about animals, they're also developing language skills they need to succeed.
