I would like for my classroom to reflect my personality. I want the students to feel like they belong there, and I want them to feel at ease in my classroom. I like to decorate my classroom for different seasons, and my students love to help with this. I want my students to want to come to school and enjoy learning.
I teach in a small, middle school located in a very rural area.
Most kids in our school fall below the national poverty line. I teach self-contained special education with a small class size of eight students. All of my students are learning at a different level from the others in the classroom. I have students in wheelchairs and students with behavior issues. My students are very active in school. They like to help out the faculty, and they love to keep the school clean. They are a fun bunch and deserve materials to further their education.
My Project
I am requesting magazine subscriptions for my classroom. My students read at a lower reading level then peers of their own age and getting interesting reading material on their level can be challenging.
These magazines will engage the students within the classroom.
Each student will have their own copy to keep in their desk and to take home when the magazine has been completed.
Finding copies of reading material for each student can become expensive but with a small class these magazines are affordable and beneficial for growth within the classroom.
I am requesting Science and Math magazines as these are the two subjects that I teach.
