A love of reading develops in Kindergarten. Many of my students do not have books or newspapers in their homes. Many of my students are homeless. This will give them an opportunity to have language experiences through reading nonfiction.
My students love nonfiction!
Scholastic News will bring nonfiction text into our classroom as well as into the family. After reading our Scholastic News, we will be extending our learning by doing artwork to go with the news articles. We will draw and paint pictures related to the magazines.

My Project
Scholastic News will help bring nonfiction and real life articles into the classroom as well as into students' homes. Most of my students do not have nonfiction books or newspapers in their homes. Many of my students are homeless. Students can learn so much through reading nonfiction. Comprehension is encouraged through using Scholastic News. Vocabulary is introduced. Real life learning takes place. Also, we can do art projects connected with the news articles. We can draw pictures, paint, and make sculptures related to the news articles.
Having Scholastic News will bring the world to my Kindergarten students!
This will be a great chance to bring nonfiction text into my students' lives. I want to empower students through reading and art!
