I am lucky to spend my days with 24 energetic, enthusiastic and diverse learners. My hope is that throughout this year they have an increased curiosity and interest to learn more about the world around them. These magazines were truly enjoyed by my 2nd graders last year, and I am confident that my new class of 2nd graders will feel the same!
Our school is very unique.
We are the smallest school in a large district educating approximately 120 students. We have one class per grade level in our kindergarten through 4th grade building. Our students are not provided with bus services, therefore they come to and from school by cars, walking, or bikes. We have a very diverse group of students, which can be difficult as an educator.
My Project
I am very hopeful to find a generous donor to help my 2nd grade students get a subscription to Scholastic magazine! They love reading about science and social studies and Scholastic magazines does a great job presenting these subjects in a way that is exciting and informative.
Our district currently does not have a social studies curriculum.
Our science curriculum is lacking individual student resources. Providing the students with Scholastic magazine would truly be an educational asset to each of them. These magazines will help students be exposed to other cultures and places in the world that they may not otherwise be exposed.
