Help me give my students multi genre reading magazines to explore new stories.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. WALSH's classroom raised $426

My Students
My students attend a public elementary school in Illinois where 100% of our students come from low income households. We are finally back in the classroom and loving every minute of it. With all the changes, we are looking to make the most of our time and make it as comfortable and safe as possible.
My Project
I have fond memories of reading the Weekly Reader Scholastic Magazines when I was a student. My students love reading these Scholastic Magazines as well. There is something special about having new stories, and the magazine format, that is engaging for many students.
Scholastic Magazines give us an opportunity to put an engaging nonfiction text into the hands of each student so we can read and work collaboratively.
Since we don't have a traditional class textbook, it's not often that we all get to collectively read the same articles or stories together. It also broadens their worldview to include many new ideas and information.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
