My second graders are a lovable bunch of students. They each have their own personality that helps make each day a new adventure. In teaching, I have realized that providing students space to be themselves and move really promotes a higher level of cooperation among the group, as well as an increase in student productivity. I am looking to provide them an alternative seating option, in hopes to promote a love of school and the environment in which they work.

My Project
I have chosen to incorporate an alternative form of seating for my students to use throughout the day. Young elementary students take in a plethora of information each school day. I want to provide my students with seating that helps them move or relax while growing as second grade scholars. Studies have shown that students who are comfortable, or allowed time to move, are more likely to produce their best work. It is for this reason that I added the wobble chairs and pillow like seats for my students to use. Their choice in seating will hopefully instill a sense of autonomy, while also helping them feel that they have a say in how they learn.
