This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a pre-k through 5 neighborhood Title I school with approximately 350 students. ONE HUNDRED percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Approximately 97% of our students are economically disadvantaged with about 13% our our population considered to be homeless.
Despite the struggles our students face on a daily basis, our students come to school every day ready to learn.
As a Multi-classroom Leader, I have the distinct pleasure of working with every student in grades 3-5 on a daily basis and they never cease to amaze me! I want to do whatever I can to continue to instill and enhance their love of school and learning.
My Project
As a school, we are working hard to create a learning environment in which students thrive academically and socially. As part of our renewed focus on character education and positive school culture, we have a new school-wide behavior system that rewards students for their positive behavior as well as for making the right choices in and around the school building. The rewards and incentives provided by this project such as keychains,fun pencils, and other little trinkets will be available in the school store for the students to purchase with their points. The prizes will each have different point values to give ALL students the opportunity to earn a reward.
In addition to students earning prizes, the school store will teacher our students the basics of economics as they will learn to budget their points to shop or save for what they want!
