Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is made up of 20 amazing learners. They come to class ready to learn despite the obstacles they face prior to stepping foot in the classroom. We are a Title I school and almost all of my students are English Language Learners. My students love coming to school because I make learning fun. My students work hard each and every day. Unfortunately, they need supplies that I can’t provide on my own. This includes "just right" books and a special system for checking out books in our classroom library.
My Project
I am in need of some new leveled books for my classroom library? Why leveled you ask? Well, in order for my students to become better readers they need access to “just right” books. Students will enjoy reading the Pete the Cat books because they are fun and on their independent reading level. Students will be able to gain confidence and practice reading strategies that I have taught them. Advanced readers can even choose to take a special comprehension test on the computer to see if they understood what they read.
I’m also requesting a special library scanner.
This scanner will help us to keep better track of all of our amazing books. Students will be able to scan their book and take it home for the evening. The next day they can take out a new book if they’ve returned their book.
